There is an option called get data from PDF as well

This is exactly what i needed. I have a Word doc for a long parts list, like over 500 parts. It's way easier for me to work in Excel to make changes and add new part numbers rather than adding a part and having to tab over.
Hopefully I remember this when I'm working on Monday

This is not to satisfy my boss. This is very useful for data science projects where some useful data tables will be available in PDF. Extracting them into excel and saving them into csv format is going to be a very good trick indeed

1) opening a local file in chrome is not "uploading" it. You're just opening it.

2) that's a path, not a URL.

3) in the cut you did after "uploading the file to Chrome" you cut and took an actual URL from some random site

You can cut and paste directly from a pdf, just use the text import wizard, fewer steps and you can control the input format.

That is provided that 1. The PDF file isn't an image. 2. If it is an image than the required OCR soft is available and provides accuracy.

You can use the 'split column' transformation on that first Excel sheet to split the tabulated input into columns.

You can also open in word then copy the table and paste it into Excel

There was a software called Monarch that specialized into converting pdf reports (with hierarchical information) into an Excel table. Pretty useful; I used it a lot for auditors and their financial reports. But it does not exist anymore.
