I’ve come up with my own reasoning for why we don’t see aliens in the form of this analogy.
A whale and an ant both exist we know this as fact.
So at what point does the ant and the whale cross paths let alone ever find out about each other’s existence?
Short answer to that is never and there are a plethora of reasons for why.

The universe is so huge and we are just the smallest of sample sizes, it would be like taking a cup of water from the ocean, and when there's no fish in it, concluding that there is none.

Its something that struck a cord with me when i was young. The thought of the unviserse being so vast, did we get lucky? Why are we the only ones? Is there a god watching only us? Are we someones experiment?
