I'm new to these Amazon fire devices and not tech-ie at all, recently we bought a 4k tv and saw this and taught it would be a good thing to buy, I'm also ordering an Alexa dot, my question is all those apps in there like Netflix, Hulu... would I need to pay a monthly subscriptionto them to be able to watch them or you just buy the fire and you can watch with no subscription? I don't have an Amazon prime subscription either

I've got this and now the cube. I don't plug the pendant straight in the back of the tv. I use a 1 mtr hdmi cable and connect the box to that so there is no strain on the connections.

I'm definitively interested in updated into on side loading apps on the new fire TV. I'm new to Amazon devices and bought a Fire TV 2017 version and Amazon Fire HD 10 tablet due to favorable Holiday pricing. I'm noticing most of the info on YouTube about side loading apps is out of date for this new Amazon Fire of them don't work or are flaking if they install at all....New videos on side loading would be awesome.

I heard Kodi runs slower on this than the last gen fire tv

It's slower with less features than last year's the only plus is the 4K and is very little content in 4k

It is crap. No J45 connector.. I do not think you get good 4k or even not 4k with out a wired connection. Not interested.

You spent 7 minutes explaining info that we all could see right off the box. It’s nothing new. What we want to know is it worth the money? Is Alexa smart enough to justify buying this? Netflix is available on most smart tv. You don’t need a dongle for Netflix nor buy or rent movies like Amazon Video. Netflix has more selections in my mind. Please focus on new features.

Sorry this should have been the replacement for the Fire TV stick and the Fire TV box should have run on 4 gigs of RAM with a rock chip or something octa-core with a molly 820 GPU and still had USB C micro SD including in that they should have added a TV tuner and a coaxial port and then they could have charged $120 for it if they wanted to kick it up a notch they could have put adult Turner in it with the ability to record using the internal 1 terabyte hard drive that would have been the most amazing Amazon TV box the one that can record regular TV and Amazon videos as well as having a micro SD card USB 3.0 and maybe an HDMI also but this is a disappointment
