Controlling 12V DC motor with arduino without motor driver

12 volt DC motor can work without a motor driver but at very low speed directly using Arduino board

ARDUINO RATED CURRENT IS ONLY 20ma. Not to mention that when you stop the motor, the motor will give a back emf of 30-100v.

I want to make a robot scarecrow, so basically
I want to spin the motor when someone comes infront of ultrasonic sensor

In that project a guy, like you plugged the motor directly in Arduino Board.

So my question is will that harm the Arduino board?
