This video shows how to control higher voltage devices from Arduino.
you will find out how to control 12 led with both relay and a transistor.
I hope you would find it useful.

The code and a list of components can be found here:

Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you.
I'm using a stepper motor in my project to raise and lower a small platform, and it only needs to be used twice for a very short time. So I want to power down the motor by disconnecting the 12v supply to the stepper driver VMOT and GND pins when the stepper is not in use.

The relay should do the trick.

The amount of time in the graphics and video editing is a lot I can tell. This is a very useful video. I already did something like this with arduino years ago but needed some refreshing info just so I can more easily get started with another small project. Thanks! And I subscribe and will look for your other videos 👍

Great explanation for each step without losing the track. Thank you so much.

Good discussion of relay versus FET. In the discussion you referred to the lamp as an LED but it appears to be a quartz halogen lamp, so using this is great but if a user connects an LED in place of the lamp the led would need a current limiting resistor.
There is no mention of the power source for the Arduino and that would lead the consumer to neglect this.

Honestly, one of the best explanatory videos on the Arduino. Thank you very much 👌

Man! worth a sub! very detailed and informative video. I was trying to add accelerometer with arduino for passive braking. I think this really helps me a lot, and using transistors resistor would be best for me too cause im using 12v lipo. Never used arduino before so good luck to me.

Very good explanation & very practical. Most YouTube Videos I watched before I found this one are so f**king boring & theoretical (and in the end not helpflu). Your video was a joy to watch & I learned a lot. Now I only need to know which Mosfet to use & how I can calculate which Mosfet fits my purpose (Volts & Amp limitations). You earned my Sub!

I've been banging my head against this for a day! Thank you - especially for the circuit diagram at 7:34!

Good project brother 😄👍👍👍...for subjection if using Mosfet on the arduino GPIO no need to connect the 10K pull down resistor, because when the arduino GPIO logic Low is mean ground already. The Mosfet will turn to off stage 😄 thanks you brother 🙏

At 7:30 Adding the 10k resistor between the gate and the ground made so the led was always on and when triggering the gate, it would go from full brightness to half brightness. To fix the issue I changed the position of the Resistor to be between the Source and the ground. Is the diagram incorrect or am I missing anything?

Using mosfet can I control 12 v by circuit diagram you give in this vedio of led

I’m curious as to why you didn’t use a snubber in your relay circuit to protect the microcontroller?
