Did top Highlander hinge. Cut my pin with hackzall, didn't damage the hinge! Bottom half of pin just fell & I pressed the top of it out with a bolt & washer inserted from bottom, using vice grips over the hinge to avoid spreading it :)

Thanks for this video. This is just what my 03 Tundra needs. As soon as I can get my hands on a grinder I'm going for it.

Bought these pins, realized I had to grind out the old ones. Ordered genuine Nissan hinges, $27 total for top and bottom . Bolt on and go

thanks for the video the only thing I did different is cut the pin in half because had little room for shaving the top with my metal cutting blade, the smaller blade is better. thanks

Would you reccomend any small amount of lube on the pin before driving the pin through the new bushings?

so everything where i try to check that dorman kit, it says "lower only, will do both doors". which makes very little sense to me. stock pins look identical size and length. I'm assuming you had no issues using the one kit to do both pins on the one door? (P.S. great video, you did exactly what i figured I'd have to do. really nice to see someone else do it first so i know I'm on the right track. gotta always keep those worn down discs for when you gotta get in a tight spot that new ones are way too big for :) )

FYI - Dorman says to use part number 38471. THEY ARE WRONG! Use #38470 as the video shows for 1st gen Tundras. As I am typing this, my door is sitting beside the truck and the pins I have are too small. No local store has 38470 in stock, so my truck is out of commission for 2 days :(

Why would it not work to just use a multi tool to cut the top of the hinge off and if someone is holding the door then why rip the door panel off and go through all of that? Just do one at a time while someone holds the door. It’s not rocket surgery.

Couldn't you just grind the pin down the middle and tap it out with a flatbar and hammer? That way you're not damaging the top of the hinge
