Most of the time if the door is sagging like that it's because the top hinge screws are loose. That's the first thing I'd check.

You can shim hinges to pull them closer to the frame. I saw someone else say tighten the screws; Yes absolutely do that first. If that doesn't work put shims (cardboard or paper usually) on part of the hinge that attached to the frame closest to the pin. I did commercial door work for a few years. During that time i only had to bend one hinge like he just did and the sag was astronomically worse than it is here in the video. Also if you have a wooden frame/door and the screw holes are stripped you can fill the stripped hole with toothpicks (hammer them in until no more fit) then rescrew. I know this was unorganized and all over the place but maybe this can help someone.

Did anyone else notice that his jack scratched the door?!?! In the beginning of the video, no scratch, end of video, scratch.

Pro Tip: don’t f up your hinges like this guy did and you more than likely will pull the screws that are holding the hinges right out of the frame creating a bigger problem

You can shim out the bottom hinge as well

As a carpenter for almost 30 years I would NEVER do that to a door

I appreciate the no talking and just getting on with it.

Use decent hinges that don't bend, preferably hardened. Then if you have a problem it's normally the mounting screws coming loose.

It’s a handy tool for a jacked hinge. Assuming the hinge is jacked. I like your door lift. I just use a cheep inflatable pad. The kind you use to force open a car door. Got it on Temu for 3 bucks

Okay. But is the door handle and plate still okay? Am I missing something or just nit picking?

Old school carpenter told me to just double up cardboard, and use it as shims behind your hinges. Layer two or three pieces and cut them so they fit right in the router hinge cut out. Works every time. I also put cardboard behind my corners for base trim if the walls are not square

Most of the time with newer homes it looks like the door is sagging but the door frame itself was built out of plumb, not square or level in that case you’re SOL

Very good.
Were the screws loose on the hinge?

If its not the screws, add a 1/6th inch shim to the bottom hinge and route a 1/6th deeper for the top hinge

I like all of it except the hinge bending, Considered shimming the hinge plates at the jamb instead?

Not commenting on the fix presented, but that short video is imo very well made. Simple, clear and complete, every second useful, zero extra fluff. Five stars.

I use a wooden shim instead of an expensive jack. I too check the screws first. I became a journeyman carpenter over 40 years ago. Using a jack for this would have gotten me laughed at for years to come.
You are obviously making this video for people that know nothing about construction at all.
Keep up the great work. I will show your video to people that want me to fix this problem for free. Their eyes glaze over if I say, "Shim, " because they have no idea what I am talking about.
