How to Roast Garlic | The Basics

Here’s a basic recipe everyone should know. Roasted garlic. All the beautiful garlic flavors without the sharpness.

Ingredients
- 3 garlic heads
- 3 tablespoons XVOO (extra virgin olive oil)

Discard the outer pappery layers of the garlic bulbs. Cut about 1/2 inch of the top of each bulb of garlic so the cloves are exposed. Place each in foil and drizzle the olive oil over the exposed garlic cloves. Wrap the foil around each bulb. Bake at 400F for 45 minutes or until the cloves are soft and lightly browned. Carefully remove the cloves (if hot) and enjoy!

I put all my bulbs in one big piece of foil (usually 6-8) and cook them in my air fryer!

I didn't have olive oil. I used vegetable oil, is that okay or will it make the garlic taste really bad? Also, some of my garlic was a little dry. I removed those cloves, should that be okay?

I’d really like to do this, but sometimes I don’t need a whole bulb of garlic. Can you put the rest in the freezer and reheat?
