The European Union Explained (with Restaurants)

Into Europe: The European Union is a complex organization, with 70 years of history. Its decision-making process is sometimes obscure. So what is the European Union? How did it come to be? And how does it work?

To explain this institution we need to ask an important question: What if the European Union was a Foodcourt?

French restaurant: We should all eat baguettes.
Italian restaurant: What about no?
That scene broke me.

How did you come up with the idea of comparing the EU with a food court? Great video as always!

It really sucks that a single chef can refuse all the others from buying chilipebers and mango chutney, just because he/she personally doesn't see a use for it.

This is the best and simplest explanation of the EU that I've ever seen/read. Congrats for the great work :)

I think it's important to say WHY were the European restaurants ruined in the beginning. Because as tiny as they were, even if some were franchises, they were fighting over 5cm of the fence placement, instead of working together to get nicer places, richer and provide better services to their clients

An important element is missing, the fact that the various restaurants actually been trying to destroy each other for centuries. The EU is a peace project with huge economical benefits. The British never truly understood that, they only had a narrow view on their own economics.

Not sure if this made the EU easier to understand or even more confusing.
Either way you did a great and creative video here.

I think as someone with dyspraxia and dyslexia explaining it like this helps me to understand it better as my brain is wired differently and I learn in different ways than most I remember seeing a video talking about how difficult the EU is in terms of getting everyone to something explaining it like a dinner party if you have a group of people who all like the same food (one county) it's easy but when you have to accommodate people with different tastes plus vegans and vegetarians (EU trying to get every member to agree on one policy) it becomes more complicated

EU explained as resturants. Italy and France: okay guys, we rule

The European Union should be a Federal State.

Edit: Like it or not, it is in the agreement-plan of the new German goverment. France, Italy, Germany-all agree. It will happen in the future. For now, we want more integration and cooperation.

It made me think of a joke about European people seen as working within the same restaurant. Or rather two; one with the European paradise and the other with the European hell.

Inside of the European paradise, you are greeted by an English receptionist. A Frenchman prepares the food, an Italian does the entertainment and everything is organized by a German.

But inside of the European hell you are greeted by a Frenchman receptionnist. An Englishman is in the kitchen, a German takes care of the entertainment but, don't panic, everything is managed and organized by an Italian.

This is a very official joke of th European Parliament that they want to learn to each young european. XD And this one is not a joke.

Props for coming up with such an idea and actually executing it to a well-suited working explanation.
