I don't understand why manufacturer's sell medium and hard tooth brushes unless they are used to scrub grout on shower walls and floors.

I caused gum recession by brushing my teeth hard. I used to want my teeth to be super white. I wish I knew to use a soft toothbrush and be gentle. I wish science was more advanced where they could make the gum regrow.

I wish someone would’ve explained this to me years ago because for years, I’ve been scrubbing the shit out of my gums

i uses a very small brush head, almost kid sized, because the adult sized toothbrush cant reach the back of my teeth comfortably. also only uses the 0.1mm soft bristle type. that said, my dentist taught me to brush at a diagonal angle and do the circling motion. i have never seen anyone taught that, because we're always taught the method you're showing in the vid. but i find the diagonal method very effective, especially at cleaning buildup at the back of my lower teeth.

Great information. Thank you for this information. Now maybe I will enjoy brushing my teeth more with a softer brush. Several years ago a person I know told me that soft toothbrushes were for kids and adults need a firmer toothbrush. Now I have to practice brushing my teeth correctly at the right angles. Well, we are never too old to learn something new.

Describe my teeth very hard because I feel like it’s better for my gums to be sore. Glad I discovered this video: thank you.

I love this! I have struggled a bit with brushing during my ortho journey, though these tips are super helpful. I have tried electric brushes but since I have very small adult teeth, electric brushes are generally too large and float above by teeth instead of contact, so I’m team manual.

I’m worried about how to brush the papilla been my front teeth. Should it be brushed or should I just focus on the edges of the papilla where it meets the tooth?

Hi 👋, how long should you wait to use mouthwash after brushing your teeth?

I'm experiencing some gum recission around one upper molar; so I think I need to try your suggestions for brushing, as I've most likely been using the 'scrub brush' method. Hopefully I can undo the damage at least somewhat; as that area is really sensitive to cold foods or liquids right now....

Conveniently, I happened to already be brushing on the right angle, everywhere in my mouth (except maybe the back of the bottom front where that angle requires a different technique, at least for me, since I have a narrow jaw). I think this is because the cheeks on the sides naturally make the brush sit at that angle. The lips do the same for the bottom front. For the inside it's harder to get the toothbrush parallel to the tooth-surface down in there, so the right angle is where the toothbrush naturally sits.
For the front top teeth, the top lip being in the way creates the right angle, unless you really lift the lip out of the way but that requires more effort, and brushing is an angle is what feels right anyway since you (I) do that essentially everywhere else and it's a continuation from the sides.

I'm switching to an electric toothbrush where this still applies, but it's cool to see that I naturally had the right angle already. I think an electric toothbrush will help me get the back of the bottom front teeth actually. Easier to get down there at the right angle with a small circular electric toothbrush head.

The longer I have brushed my teeth, the closer and closer I get to the electric toothbrush method where it's just one slow choo-choo train pass along all the surfaces. Might as well just get an electric toothbrush at this point lol. Plus I like to hit the teeth at 2 different angles to really get between the teeth a bit (gently), and an electric toothbrush head is just more ideal for that.

Also wanna try the light-up pressure sensor feature. And there's a 2-minute timer (with 30-second pacer). I normally end up brushing for a bit longer than 2 minutes by default, but it would be nice to know.

Update: An electric toothbrush is AWESOME. The first time using it, it's like taking the jackhammer to the teeth lol. It's intense. But after a few more sessions the gums adapt to it (and the bristles get a tad softer). The amount this thing is better than a manual toothbrush for behind the front teeth, is astronomical. Perfect angle, can get right in there properly, it's awesome. The pressure sensor is cool and nice to have, though I am absolutely no where near setting it off, which is cool. Though maybe as the bristles age more, I'll get closer to accidentally doing that sometimes. I really like the pacer, too. My teeth get so cleaned that they feel like they're polished now. I was always worried about maybe brushing too hard, but from using this thing, I can see that I clearly wasn't at all close to that.
