Braces Explained: Brushing with Braces
In this video, I will answer the question of "how to brush properly with braces?" Disclaimer: I have no financial ties to Crest/Oral-B but I just personally really like their products!
When you brush your teeth, you want to make sure that you brush the areas where your gum meets your teeth, as well as the chewing surface of your teeth. If you have braces, you also have to focus on getting around the brackets! To do this, you have to make sure you angle your toothbrush properly. In this video I will demonstrate the different techniques on how to brush properly using an electric vs a manual toothbrush. In addition to brushing, you have to make sure to floss and clean between the teeth, which I will demonstrate in another video! You should brush for two minutes, twice a day to ensure you remove all the bacterial build-up around your teeth!
When selecting a toothpaste, you want to make sure you select a toothpaste that is fluoridated. The fluoride in the toothpaste strengthens your teeth and acts as a shield to protect it from cavities!
