Excellent. Worked a treat. As advised, I first took photos of my original BMW dealer service history before anything else. I then connected the laptop / OBD2 lead / software, then typed in the original BMW dealer service records, and then added my own service (Engine Oil) and selected Independent service, clicked on `Write to Car` and everything went great (as per your well detailed video). Does this work on a 2017 BMW 2 Series 218D M Sport Coupe?

I have the full service history of the car on paper form but nothing has been inputted to the digital service history: is this perhaps that all annual services have been carried out by independent garages and not BMW? I asked this question to the garage that did my last service and they said they don't have access to do what you say in the video, reckon only BMW can update the service digitally with specialized software - crazy right?

Fascinating stuff. But cant you just add your own service details without having to re-add the previous history? When you 'write to car' at 4:30 couldn't you just de-select the option 'erase old service data' and when you write your own service maybe your new info will follow the previous info?

works on G30. just one question, when ie. if I visit an authorized service, when they write a new service on idrive, will they delete absolutely all services? Is it possible for them to enter the ones that were actually done by them, or will they delete only those that were not done in an authorized service?

Nice, but typically on OEM services the microfilter also will be replaced with each oil service. If the car ever goes to BMW and gets connected to ISTA+/AIR online, your offline service history will be removed and thus not be visible anymore. By the way, this car did 400km in 1 year?

@TheHunterHofman Great video!! I have a question: Has anyone done this on a UK car where the milage is in miles not KM. I have done my oil change and was about to rewrite the history but realised the free program does the milage in km. if i convert the milage and upload what is likely to show up on the history? Thanks

Sometimes my car connects to the software, sometimes it doesn’t. Sorry do you have any idea why? Does yours connect straight away every time?

What I’m trying to get rid of is the engine oil status. It still shows me the orange triangle how do I clear the notification? When I navigate through to vehicle status of engine oil says:- 800km 10/2023 Service due soon. Please arrange an appointment with your service Partner. Does anyone came stuck across this? I’d appreciate your help in advance!

Great video, can you please advise if the idrive will still inform you of the future service and maintenances required? So you can then carry them out at a local garage and update/reset the computer as you go along?
