6 Months with My BMW M2: First Drive, Setup Tips & Best Mods!

Welcome back to RBR, guys! If you’re interested in a #BMW #M2 in even a small way, this is the video you’ve been waiting for!

I’ve owned mine for 6 months and 5,000 miles and I want to give you a proper report, here’s the plan:

First, I’ll recap our deep dive on the G87. Then I’ll share tips on setting up a new M car to maximize the new tech and address some common annoyances. I’ll also discuss the model year updates for 2024, and take you to PPF the car at Topaz before we go on a proper first drive post running-in! Then finally at the end of the video, upgrade my M2 with the best #mperformanceparts that BMW M do!!

The M2 follows a pure BMW M formula: 6 cylinders, RWD, manual and auto options, and a brutish look. It inherits a lot from the M4, including the 6-cylinder 3.0 S58 engine with 550NM and 460 BHP, achieving 0-60 in 4.1 seconds. We’ll put that to the test today!
The M2 also shares the 8-speed Steptronic gearbox or 6-speed manual, M adaptive suspension, and track oil cooling, chassis tech, and rigidity measures from the M3/M4. It makes you wonder why you’d bother with the M4, and that’s something we’ll discuss today.

In terms of design the M2 is a big departure from the standard 2, with a distinct design that’s worth talking about! It’s significantly wider than the standard 2, matching the width of the M4 but in a car that’s 21cm shorter. It’s 3.3cm wider than the old M2 and sits lower.

As for the Model Year 2024 update: some is good and some is bad. The updates include 480HP, a 0.1-second faster 0-60 time, new silver wheels, a black model badge, and new paint options like Sao Paulo Yellow, Fire Red, and more. However, some features like the carbon trim and roof are now only available with the M Race Track Pack for £9,500, which also includes carbon bucket seats.

Today I’ll show you how I set up the car for my own and family use. We’ll cover key setup, digital and card linking, app benefits, CarPlay, home screen customization, driving modes, interior space, boot space, and more.

Then mods, protecting your car before hitting the road is crucial, so I’ll show you the areas that need attention and how to protect them at @TopazDetailing. And then finally we will hit the road before installing a tonne of BMW M Perfomance Parts!

Up next on RBR is the 5 series i5 touring review, and a Surprise Video!! Subscribe be to support us and see them first. :)

I saw one in person this weekend in Black Sapphire Metallic. It was stunning. The fender flares are so wide it looks like a DTM race car. And The base model is pretty affordable considering the performance. And it has a manual if you want it. 👍🏻

Criminally underrated video. Extremely well produced and filmed. Thank you for this!

Have you done anything to protect the oil cooler? It’s in quite a vulnerable spot down below the front

you are the only jornalist that talks about the gearbox and the way it’s responds. Thank you for the great work.

Similar standard spec except in red and having come from a Mk3 RS Focus and being my first BMW, this is a beast of a car. Like you, love the rear end don't care what others think. The buckets are brilliant although still not mastered the art of getting in/out even after 4 months of ownership. Only addition is Zunsport radiator protectors at the front plus the oil radiator underneath.

I just found your channel and I must say I think it one of the best car channels out there. I really enjoy your work with touch of humor. The only negative thing is that every car you show (almost) has the steering wheel on the worng side but that's not your fault, I guess 😅

Perfect video. Spot on facts. The design is ahead of its time just like the early Chris Bangle designs that everyone hated. But now…
