A wise man once said, find a job you love and you will never work a day in your life you have done that Alec well done!!!!

Excellent points and view toward business. In a similar way, people see and can tell when you love and take pride in your work. They're more likely to buy something from someone they can see it means something to, rather than buy from someone they can tell doesn't really care and it's just another job.
Wake up every morning with wanting nothing more than to immediately jump out and get the fire lit up.
I love the feeling so much that I rarely take a day off, not because I have to, to make money, but because I love blacksmithing so much I can't imagine not doing it as much as I can.

Value, as a virtue...no one ever expressed it this way that I've ever heard...makes a lot of sense. Thank you.

Nearly 5 years on, and this is still one of my favorite Alec Steele videos.
Alec, your message is timeless, and your attitude invigorating. Well done!

The only people that MAKE money work in a MINT. The rest of us have to EARN money but yeh you got it mate. VALUE is the key. Unfortunately they do not teach this in any kind of way in public schools... never. Took me 25 years to realise this.
Fukin love it mate, HAVE FUN!!

The provision of value is a virtue.

Your wisdom and maturity is beyond your years. I commend you on the way you apply yourself to your crafts both blacksmithing and film maker.

I wish some of my peers some 20 years your senior could apply themselves like you do.

Refreshing to hear from this generation. You have created value in your work but you also do just that Work. Your work ethic sets you apart. Thanks!

The provision of value is a virtue and your videos have proven to provide great value since the day I stumbled upon your channel. I am in the very beginning stages of starting a business and you have largely inspired me to do so. Seeing the passion you have and the joy you get from doing the work you do is an awesome thing. I admire your work ethic and upbeat attitude. One day Ill send you something I make as gratitude. Keep at it man and have fun down under.

Alec, I bought a shirt because your videos have provided so much value by way of inspiration. We're finality buying a new home where I'll have the space to setup my own forge and get back to smithing and I'll continue to use your videos as inspiration and guidance. Now, if only I could afford your many, amazing toys (tools).

Value comes in many forms.Your position and perspective are right on my young friend. I look forward to spending several days trading stories and knowledge and most of all,  learning technique from you.See you tomorrow!

I just started working at a forge this week and I’ve never been happier in my life to make furniture, It’s a great feeling to know I’m part of something that will last for a very long time in someone’s home

Thanks man, I study economics as a hobby since ever and is just beautiful to watch a video with a blacksmith talking about the relationship between money value and work. This is pure Adam Smith and Marx. It is high level stuff in a really utilitarian way. Plus you used it as a way of empowering the labor source (the blacksmith). It is just nice to watch. Keep it good man, keep it high level as you are. I am a huge fan. Cheers from Brazil

13 years a mechanical engineer, an MBA under my belt and 9 years as a software salesman, and this is by far and away the best description of why I enjoy what I do! If smithing and YouTube pall, I think you could make a handsome living as a leader of a cult, or as a motivational speaker!

I found d this video after searching "how to get/find raw materials today for smithing"...
Interested in the trade, always have been. Wife and I want to start homesteading in the future and I want to learn how to do a lot of the old trades. This was a great, and inspiring video. A big problem for me has been money, or the lack of. Trying to figure out how to make money when you have none to start with is a bit stressful but this video has helped me to see past that. My wife and I already have a home based business and hopefully this will help us in that area so that I may help us and others in other areas. Thanks Alec!

Alec,

As an entrepreneur myself, your take on this is a great way to get past the idea of simply "How do I make money?"

My experience so far was that the money came once my value was known by more and more people.

I have been following you for a few weeks, and I caught the tail end of your live cast on Saturday. This is a great speech, I plan on showing this to my kids in the next few days. Thanks.
