dude... this is such an awesome thing to learn! I'm probably never going to use it in real life, but I play TTRPGs and this is more research material I can use to make the game world feel more real when describing places like a smithing forge.

Awesome video, but why on relatively low heat? Does it bend the surrounding metal if it's too hot?

As a beginner blacksmith, this video was a lot of help.

Could be just the video, but I like to have a high localized heat when hot punching, I make punches out of whatever tool steel is around, and don’t harden or temper them…because tool steels are just Tuff, and will survive a limited run. If it’s a production item tooling will be created, to survive the production run multiple matching tools will be created to ensure that the run, runs!

If you punch with the jaw hanging off the side of the anvil first. You can use the pritchel to punch out the biscuit. Nice clean lines.

Again! Your end results are so clean! You make it look so easy to! That's what a lifetime of this type of work will bless you with! Do you do individual projects? Say if I wanted to pay you to make me a Damascus knife. Solid peice no fold. Ir would be a side carry knife!: ) name a price and we will definitely see to making itnhappen

my first punch and drift was a hammer head lol. let me say I ended up with a very flat, one sided hammer.

Ok this is kind of cool.
I always have trouble getting clean and parallel holes in the right size, but I only use a punch. So I'm gonna try it with a drift...

Do you have a storefront where one can buy those blanks?

I only work in glass but I do see some similarities; though glass being far easier to work; I could imagine that if it was 10-50x harder at it's temperature we would use even more similar techniques.

I usually don't drift mine works alright.

It helps to use cold, asked to stop the metal from sticking to each other when you’re punching

What's the difference between punching a hole and drilling a hole? Is there a structural difference?
