I have hundreds upon hundreds of hours into Ark between PS4, Epic, and Steam versions, and I still have a hard time remembering which tool gets more meat/hide without looking at the tool tips. Even as the "expert" that I am (as a solo player anyway), I still like to watch these videos of yours just to see what I'm doing wrong/different and what I could do more efficiently, as well as the fact that it's always good to review the basics every now and then.

Here is a tip that really helped me:

NB: This tip is not the be-all-end-all when it comes to helping beginners. I strongly advise combining this tip with the tips mentioned in this vid, as well as pterafier’s previous survival handbook series.

Like mentioned in the video, don’t start in the island. In fact, avoid starting on any of the story arks. Instead start on a custom ark, ragnarok being my most recommended option, as it is easiest to start on in my opinion, and has a wide array of the most powerful mid game creatures in the game, wyverns most importantly. Get to late mid game on ragnarok (or up to any moment when you can tame wyverns and rexes, or any other powerful mid game creatures.

This is why I say combine this advice with pterafier’s other advice, as you will need to get to mid game to continue with the rest of this advice.

After you have a decent repertoire of mid game creatures like argies, rexes or wyverns, then I advise you to start on other maps. You can now transfer some of your creatures to other maps you want to start on, giving you a massive head start.

I’ve used this method on any new map I want to play on, so believe me when I say: having a wyvern or argy right from the get-go can prove to be a massive help, as it’ll help with protecting you from hostiles, transport you around the map, as well as aiding in taming new dinosaurs like dodecs, ankies, or trikes.
