Best part was those wooden spike protected base using gigantopithecus to get over the spikes... good old days.

I remember, back in the old old old days. Pre/Giga days. We where under siege by the server alpha, in the days where servers where the entire world, no bringing your Dino’s cross server. They had the high ground, the volcano metal farm. Our base was at the foot, north side on the rive. The ove had still been red not a month before but now it was blue and covered in snow.

We had six Rexes left and a single spino, no brontos, one quetz. They brought double or more of that. The server ping was so bad we where mass dc’ing every ten minutes or so. But I noticed by guys where reconnecting first.
So we readied for a charge. When the server went down, we where never the Rexes, our snipers ready to open the door and return to their firing positions.
Server crashes, we’re all right and ready.
The last ride. This was gonna be it.
Server up. Mount up, go/no go, all go. I order the charge. We rush out and up the mountain just as they are reconnecting and mounting. It was a battle. It was a fire fight. Striping enemies of their armor and weapons to keep going. Killing Rex after Rex, picked, tranq’d, you name it.
But we didn’t lose a single Rex. Ours where so much better. Our guys where better at working in teams. Our guys didn’t care if we lost, only that we fought.

Took us two weeks, intrgue, betrayal, air drops into turret dead zones. The giga was added mid war and we kited tje first to spawn right over to their base and then kited their herds into it’s jaws.
We won. Parts of the tribe wouldn’t remain together, by my faction held that server for two years.

Ark's downfall began with the introduction of tek, the true downfall came with dino and character transfer

Back when pvp was more about tactics and using tools in creative ways instead of just having an OP gear and special dino

Localising gen1 and 2 in pvp ( no transfer of dinos and engrams between gen maps and other maps) was simple solution but wild card was to lazy to do it

Is adults that was kids starting off playing this game are the only ones that can tell you that this game is changed and it will never be the same even with all their new generations to come if you were lucky enough to be a soul that can experience ark, survival in the vanilla age you was lucky❤🎉

I remember pvp from 2016 and 2017 it was way more fun than it was in its later years

I remember when all we had was the island, making a base so big people couldnt render and would die to your plants. Breeding war quetzals and brontos, breeding stegos for bullet soaks, locking down the cave and deep sea for best loot.

My guy, I remember the pvp the first week of ARK. It was a beutiful time, and now it's all gone to shit, it was my favorite game of all time, and still is.

This game WAS the greatest. Than they added tec an multipliers so 95% of the dinos became decoration

I don’t play ark pvp but the game was just better when tek wasn’t a thing, keeping the technology more mechanical and realistic was so much better
