Some dbz fanatics would consider most of the dbz films as non canonically I believe this variant is canon cause it informs and enlightens you on the storyline of future trunks alternate timeline all the points leading up to his appearance when Frieza and King cold emerge on earth to decimate and take down goku.

This version of bulma is so serious and mature coz of the apocalyptic world that she has seen. Both bulma have such contrasting personalities but one thing which is similar in both of the is their trust in goku. Even in super bulma was telling trunks and goten that their best shot against zamasu is goku just like how in this movie future bulma explains trunks about goku. Only thing which i felt writers could've done during future trunks arc in super was not atleast erase his timeline. The dude already been through so much and now he literally has to sought refugee in a timeline where already his other version exists and if the fan theories turn out to be true regarding whis punishing him for time travel then it can't be worst then that. Hopefully if they ever bring him back again, they sort out the mess he had to face in super.
