If you can't remove it while you are logged in then you may just be stupid lol
The only way anybody should ever ask how to remove an account is if you are locked out without a password... Or made before you were!

for some reason it won't let me put the local account as administrator, simply the option to change account type is disabled

In command prompt, enter as administrator..
1st command: Net user
2nd command: net user administrator /active:no

Edit- I switched it off and then switched it on, tried again and it worked .
