Fixing the Inside of A Rock Band Guitar (or Guitar Hero Guitar)

I bought some rock band gear used recently, and while everything worked pretty well, there was some issues with the guitar. Firstly, there was a rattle any time you shook it (loose plastic?) and the upstroke didn't work nearly as well as it needs to for any accuracy while playing. I decided to open it up, look inside, and see if I could fix the problems! Turns out, if you have a problem in the body of the guitar, it's probably not a hard fix. The neck, however, looks to be a different story. Obviously everyone might have different problems, but this should be worth checking for any guitar hero or rock band guitars, so I thought it would be a good thing to document!

Hey man the neck part can separate, there is a button on the top of neck, you press it and it comes out, just press and pull up so that way you can view al the neck open

The neck is actually one of the easier parts of the guitar once you take it apart you just have to clean the silicone parts and the boards where the sensors are for the buttons you clean those up and for the most part part of things get back to working, taking out the buttons is tricky, but sometimes they need to be lubricated and that fixes things also.

Thank you so. so much for this video. I'm just getting into these games and the guitar I bought seems to only work when it wants lol. Definitely gonna use this to try and fix it up. Thank you again!

I was looking for a way to dampen the sound of the frets when this came on my recommended. Didn't assist in my problem, but I got to see what that rattling was! I distinctly remember some past RB guitars had and I stayed to watch you solve it. At least I know I to solve that one if it ever occurs again.

Just got a used RB1 Wii guitar, the dongle (correct dongle already check serial numbers) blinks and so does the guitar but they will not sync together. If I do what's in this video think I can find what's wrong or should I just ship back the guitar and get a different one? Assuming its not the dongle thats the issue as it shows up on my PC when I plug it in there and still doesn't sync with the guitar.

No upstroke? Must be James's custom guitar
