Here are 5 simple steps to master your float serve!

1. “Present” the ball in front of your hitting shoulder.
2. “Draw” your arm back and have it ready to release when it’s time to swing.
3. “Lift” the ball up just a bit higher than your contact point and take a “step” in order to shift your weight forward into the ball.
4. “Shift” your weight forward and start your “rotation” of your hips & shoulders.
5. “Swing” your arms and contact the ball with a firm flat palm like a you’re giving a hard “high-five”. Finish your palm/contact to the area you want to serve to.

Hope this helps!

Tip: Try to find the airhole of the ball since that part is usually the heaviest. Place the airhole facing down and toss the ball up with 2 hands for less spin and more float

This is so cool seeing a float serve clearly, you can see the ball moving..! Ahh I want to be able to serve far enough for my float serve or to even be able to do it 😭

Ideally for float serve your hand and arm stops as you make contact with the ball rather then driving through the ball. What your trying to do is not impart any spin on the ball making it appear to float instead. This can give the ball an unexpected flight trajectory by dropping down quickly or veer to the left or right. This will depend on where the valve is when you hit the ball. Hitting the valve dead on will make it wobble or hitting the ball with the valve to the side, bottom or top will make the ball go in that direction.

STEP 0.5, touch sand. Float serves are far more effective with wind - hahah! But seriously, good mini tutorial. It’s super important to shift your weight into the ball with the “high five” contact. That’s shifting from your back leg to front while rotating your torso. The twist comes from your staggered stance/foot placement as you can see in this video.

Try to throw it up as still as you can so that there isn’t much rotation.

Don't follow thru. With the stiff palm of your hand, make contact with the ball and STOP, like you're giving the ball a high five.
