Made In Chef Knife Review (Wusthof Killer)

Today we are reviewing the Made In chef knife! We will also do a small comparison with another popular DTC (Direct to Consumer) chef knife, the Misen. The Made-In reminds me a lot of the Wusthof's profile but I actually like the Made-In more.

There are several things that the Made-In is superior to the Wusthof:

1.) Both are made with X50CrMoV15 steel. But Made-In took an additional step of nitrogen treating the steel to create an even more durable wear resistance steel to a Rockwell rating between 58-60.

2.) Price point. The Made-In is made with an enhanced material but with a price point that is lower than Wusthof. The Made-In is priced at $89. The very popular Wusthof Ikon Classic retails at $169+tax. That is 2X the cost of the Made-In. For the amount you spend on an Ikon Classic, you could've bought two of the Made-Ins and gift one of them to someone you like (Pick some one you really like, because this knife is the shit!)

3.) Risk-Free Trial. You can try the knife out for 30 days and if you don't like it, you get your money back. That shows how confident they are in their product that you will like it enough to keep it.

What kind of material is the handle made of ? Also what's the thickness of the spine and is it tapered ?
Thank You

Great Review, but please just get on with the knife review. Showing the box and the knife in the box for 2 minutes is two minutes more you can spend on reviewing the knife.
I comment on this with other utube

I’m in the market for new knives and don’t feel like I should have to pay for Wusthof… do I go Misen or Made in?

This could have been a 4 minute video, too much fluff

I'm puzzled, is it French or is it US ? And, in the last case, can it be bought from France without extra shipping cost ?

Can you compare these knives to Hexclad knives?

In order to "kill" Wüsthof, this brand must first proof it can stay in business. Just like Misen they haven't been around for very long and there are already rumors that they're soon to be gone again. Wüsthof has been making knives since over 200 years.

Where did you get the 12.5 degree angle from?

Chef's knife--(for me) MUST be a rocker. Just might order 1 "Made In". As much as the Misen is still a great deal. Maybe I'll get one of those too..when I feel like spending for the sake of.

Like to see how the Made In compares to the Mann Kitchen MX9...blade length aside..pls consider getting a butternut squash for the cutting test. I came across a YouSTube knife test of a JP Blue #2 steel traditional Gyuto that got chips cutting that squash. Surprised. Don't know what on the squash was so hard.

My money would be on the Mann Kitchen MX9...looks beefy. Compared to almost any chef's knife out there. Prefer the western design (handle, half bolster and blade shape).

That’s awesome but I feel like this review is a bit misleading. I bought my girlfriend a chef’s knife and paring knife and the edge was total crap out of the box. I immediately had to put them to a stone to sharpen it to where it should have been.

I think I'm going to choose the messer meridian stealth/olive version. This one looks great too though.

I was all set to order up a Misen 2.0, then I saw this video. Plus Austin isn't terribly far from me and for 275.00$ I can get four of their knives, including the santoku!

Hey all! Would love to hear what you think of the video. How is the quality? Thoughts on length of video or what I should talk about? What kind of tests would you like to see to test sharpness?

I have the Misen 2.0, Wusthof Ikon and Classic. I like all of them and use them all on a rotating basis. The bolster on the Wusthof Classic does not prevent sharpening. The Wusthof Ikon has the same type half bolster as the Misen and Made In knife so thus easy to sharpen or hone. I am getting a Made In chef knife just for fun. Can't wait to compare.

Two commercials before you even show the knife. Too much unnecessary commentary.

Seems like a nice guy but this 20+ video could’ve been 8 minutes without all the unnecessary commentary. I could be a fb with a little more polish/refinement.
