Is it worth travelling to Pattaya Thailand as a NON DRINKER? A discussion for those in recovery as well as travellers who simply choose not to drink.

Today I discuss AA meetings and NA meetings in Pattaya Thailand. I speak to a number of foreigners here currently who don't drink or partake in any substances and ask the question....

Is PATTAYA a VIABLE holiday destination for NON DRINKERS?

Is it SAFE to VISIT for alcoholics and drug addicts in recovery?

I begin my day at La La Lake, Na Jomtien and travel to Soi Diana, Areca Lodge just off Soi Buakhao in the heart of Pattaya to find out how non drinkers / non party-types spend their time while here in Thailand.

If you do choose to comment on this video please watch until the end to get the full message we're trying to get across here today :)

I have lived here, in Pattaya for 2 years, and I have been sober for 38 years. I love the party scene in Pattaya and my girlfriend drinks and I have no problem with her drinking. No body else's drinking ever got me in trouble. i go to bars, clubs and gogos but I only stay a short while. I usually go to meet a girl or be with friends. I do spend more time in the Night Clubs, but all the waitresses know me and know I don't drink and my girls do. I stay to about 1 or 2 am, sometimes 3 am but never later than that. I enjoy the Club atmoshphere and the music. I don't recommend this for the newly sober but, I can be in the party atmoshere without drinking. Really, I have been in all the types of Bars in Pattaya and no Bar has ever complained about me drinking Soda Water, I like the fizz, and no new girl has ever complained about me not drinking, it's just one more thing they don't have to worry about.

Shout out to all the non drinkers out there. Real life is pretty surreal and trippy as it is.

I almost made it 5 days alcohol free this week. That's the longest I've done in 20 years

I never understood why people go overseas to sit in a bar most of the time and never really experience the things that country has to offer

Hi Sam! As a former alcoholic and addict, I didn’t take a chance on Pattaya or Patong. Drove through but just being there felt a little triggering for my past habits. Thanks for the video Sir!

Thank you for sharing this Sam.
I do drink but not as much as before and sometimes its actually hard to say no when your in a group where 99% drink.

Good topic, its needed in this day and age.

While I’m not a non-drinker, respect to those who are. You can be sober or drunk anywhere and have fun; it’s all about the individual. Nice video, mate.

I've been to Pattaya twice for 3 months each time as a light drinker. I drink maybe once every 2-3 weeks. I had the time of my life. There is so much to do in Pattaya you can never go bored.

I’m not a recovering alcoholic, I’m a “retired professional”. When your spending 7/800$+ a mo it eventually gets old in usa. Then you see that amount spent plus whatever else you were literally blowing $ on and see you can live an entire life without working in pattaya solely on what you used to blow on bad habits…

Good video Sam. My Thai girlfriend doesn’t drink except on the rare occasion which I highly respect. I’ve had family members and close friends go through the battle with the bottle so it’s good to see you making videos and discussing the topic.

I am not much of a drinker, but I love Thailand. Plenty of things other than drinking. Great food, nice beaches.

For anyone looking to drink less or even quit drinking, I highly recommend the book: Kick the Drink... Easily! by Jason Vale.

I would not say I am a non-drinker but I found a lot of things to do without alcohol in Pattaya and Jomtien where I stayed.

Never got drunk there at all…
