Tourists from all over the world flock to the Greek island of Santorini. But the island has become known for being overcrowded and, according to some, not worth the hype. DW reporter Sarah Hucal visited off-season to get a glimpse of what this Greek island is really like.⁠

I like it in October because it's way less crowdy. But there are equally beautiful islands in the Cyclades. I prefer Naxos, Milos, Andros, Folegandros and others more

Perisaa Beach is the best beach there. If you want the best view of the sunset, take the Catamaran dimner/sunset trips they offer. Absolutely amazing!!

Santorini is so beautiful 🤩; don’t let the Crowds deter you from going ; there’s Room for everybody 😀. I went @ the end of May & it was pretty busy but gorgeous!! If you’re NOT one to like super crowded Spots, will recommend going @ the end of October/November.

Actually there is a Greek guide that makes videos for Santorini and in a video of his he has revealed 6 other spots other than Oia that you can enjoy the sunset the same or even better than OIA.

I can't wait to simply stay in my hotel in Oia...they serve bfast and dinner, + the pool. I won't need to leave at all

Overhyped - I’m here today, and went to these places and don’t get me wrong there are beautiful scenery’s but not that “exciting” tbh….it’s more for a chilled eat and bathe holiday than anything else…rather go next door to Turkey where you get it all from scenery to food to excursions etc

6) KOMODO NATIONAL PARK & NUSA PENIDA, INDONESIA

7) rest of Europe

No would rather find tiny quiet places. Saw best in 80s andearly 90s unfortunately photos gone ... Skiathos Skopelos Cephalonia Spetses Hydra ...havent returned as believe would be overrun now..

I hope the sun set is alot better in person cos no picture or video impresses me. Im going santorini not because of the hype but because its less crowded compare to other islands. While other island have 3 flights per day. Santorini only 1 every 3 days where i live
