Hi Sean! I have both the Apprentice 1.5m and the Aeroscout 1.1m. I agree with your reasons why the Apprentice is an excellent beginner plane, but I must say that the Aeroscout is even better. The Aeroscout has the same reasons you mention plus an additional couple ones: 1) The propeller is in the back, so both it and the motor are very well protected in case of a crash or a hard landing (which is very common when you are learning), and 2) When you have learned the basics, the Aeroscout is still VERY good at acrobatics, so you can continue your training in the very same airplane. Granted, the Apprentice has better looks, but the Aeroscout is an even better training plane.

I think because the Apprentice is more realistic than the other trainer planes, makes it number 1.

Aeroscout is better for beginners... I have both... BTW its ai-ler-on. Not AI-LER-ON
