7th Grade Math 11.3a, Find the MAD, Comparing Differences in Centers to Variability

In Grade 6 Math 16.2 a, b, and c, we were introduced to mean absolute deviation (MAD). The Mean Absolute Deviation of a set of data values is the mean distance (average distance) between each data value and the mean (average) of the data set. The mean and the absolute deviation of a data set are the measures of center and variability. To find the MAD, we first find the mean of the data. Next, take the absolute value of the difference between the mean and each data point. Finally, find the mean of those absolute values. We walk-through two different examples to find the mean absolute deviation for the data values.
