Time to Hoard Copper Pennies? Each Penny Worth OVER 3¢ NOW 👀

In this video I talk about hoarding copper pennies and copper price. Copper price has gone up significantly over the past few months and recently hit an all time high. Copper Pennies from 1981 and earlier are made out of 95% copper and 5% zinc so is it a good idea to hoard copper pennies right now? I bring up the actual melt value of a copper penny and I also talk about the legality of melting down pennies. Modern pennies are made out of zinc and not worth much. I also talk about how you might be able to use copper pennies for barter in the future and how the price of copper in 2024 and beyond can continue to climb. The price of copper can climb much higher than it is right now and with each copper penny being worth about 3 cents I think its a good idea to be hoarding them right now. There are some types of copper such as copper rounds and copper bars that I do not recommend stacking right now. When it comes to stacking copper I prefer copper wire and copper cents. I just put a bunch of scrap copper at the curb. It was gone within a half an hour. I guess I should have made the trip to the recycler myself, but I'm lazy and that place is schetchy. My grandfather would be shaking his head. He collected cans for the aluminum 30 years ago and would sometimes take me along. He is the one who got me into silver.

Bro. I've always stacked copper pennies. I have bank boxes full of them. I get a couple boxes a week and sort them out. Big fan of copper.

I keep my copper in the form of plumbing/hvac fittings and piping. Being useful makes them worth many times over spot. There was a big freeze here a few years ago in the desert and the stores got wiped out. People were offering up to $30 for a 3/4 plumbing union. Wild times! Also, silver solder has just that in it. Some up to 40+%. Always grab it if you see it at an estate or yard sale. Keep stacking!

I used to not waste any energy picking up anything under a quarter since stacking silver that has changed. I now collect pennies and separate the copper ones. I work at a store and get about 50 cents a day off the floor in change. I save the change and when it adds up I buy a ounce of silver it has turned into a game and is fun.

About half of the 1982s are copper.
You'll have to weigh them with a simple portable scale (about $10).
Coppers will be 3.1 gm.
Zincs will be 2.5 gm.

I've been stacking copper scrap for years. I smelt a lot of it down into ingots to save space. Approximately up to 1500 lb of copper. And almost 5, 000 lb of aluminum cans that I get from where I work, that I bail into 25 lb bales with a custom-built can baler.
