Zinc plated pennies are not worth 2.5 cents, the 95% copper pennies are. Nice try but you "screwed the pooch" this time.

Nickels can also be melted down to more than face value

All dimes, quarters, and half dollars that are dated 1964 or earlier are 90% silver witch it 2600% profit

Melting down pennies is illegal only if you get caught doing so lmfao

That is true if the pennies are 1982 or older and then it would be 95% copper and 5 percent zimc

The pennies mention in this videos are U.S. pennies made before 1982. Pennies from 1981 and before are made of 95% copper and 5% zinc. These pennies have about 2.5 cents worth of copper. Pennies made after 1981 are just zinc plated copper and is not worth anything.

Pennies before 1983 were 95% copper and 5% zinc, nowadays its the other way around. You will almost never get a good amount of copper from pennies, you'll just end up with a ton of zinc

Should note it’s only 1982 coins and earlier, because now they are a majority of zinc.

this is only for 1982 and older cents. they have changed compound since then. it is illegal to deface American currency.

Depends on what and how you melt a penny in where and when

It’s not illegal to melt. You just can’t sell it after it’s been melted. But there’s nothing that says you can’t “trade” it for something.

Melting Pennies down isn’t illegal, you can get permission it becomes illegal if you sale your copper bars for profit

Well if you do pennies before in 1982 you'd get way more copper

The 2 cents you're referring to is actually from a pre 1984 penny which is mostly copper. The zinc pennies have almost no copper and zinc has almost no value.

Melting isn’t illegal though, it’s selling that raw material you got that is illegal

Give me some tin and I would have a Bronze Age trading empire.

Modern game consoles cost more to make than what they sell for. They make up for the loss through subscription services. There was an issue with people buying them in bulk not to scalp, but rather part them out for profit. This obviously started costing companies a lot of lost revenue per console sold, so companies have started pushing back against bulk purchases. Now you know what to do with your console when a newer version comes out. Its even more profitable if you have the needed certifications to buy the chemicals to strip the precious metals out of the boards and such

This is something akin to how Rome fell. This is in a significant way related to the debasing of the currency. It's not the same thing exactly as what they were doing, but you're creating an even bigger expense than the one that they were kind of okay with making to mint the pennies. This they would not be okay with, because you're just going to devalue the US dollar. While this might not have more of an impact then bank bailouts, inflation, etc, it's not going to have a good impact for anybody but you. I don't recommend doing it, as it does have a harmful effect on everybody else and you are taking a risk whether you know it or believe it or not.
