This was the first thing me and my sister saw back in ‘77. She was 13, I was 12. We were both watching Saturday morning cartoons when they played the trailer. We both went, ”Whoa! Gotta see that!”😀

So thrilling seeing this on the big screen. The characters interacting with computer enhanced weaponry was innovative and timely with the rise of arcade games.

This scene is one of my favorite parts of the movie! It's just pure fun, which is what's so great about it.

Call me strange, but my #1 absolute favorite sound effect in ALL the Star Wars movies is how the TIE Fighter sounds like from inside the cockpit. At 00:36 you hear that sound effect, always loved that sound.

You had to be there. You’ll never understand. It works anyway despite no cgi. It’s funny and touching..

(0:08) I always loved how the turrets moved when Luke bumped the chair and as both he and Han got settled in. When you think about how this movie came out 1977, that detail might have seemed extraneous and unnecessary to create. But, man, does it solidly anchor the verisimilitude of the scene's setting. And, yes, just like everyone else here, this is one of my favorite scenes in all of Star Wars-dome.

Yeah, everyone, besides Leia, should have known right away they were being let go, since the Imperials could have launched hundreds of fighters if they wanted. But I'm not sure what a better choice would really be, since presumably the Empire might take a look at their plans and figure out, and correct, the weakness of the Death Star. So, maybe flying to Bespin really was the best call. I'm still surprised they didn’t start evacuation of the Rebel base while the fighters tried to bring the Death Star down, though.

But, hey, we're coming up on the 50 year anniversary of the release of this film and _everything_ has already been analyzed to death, so we should just sit back, munch on some popcorn, and enjoy the good clean fun. 😉 😎🤘☮️

Never Understood the physics behind the 2 gun seats. They enter them vertically yet sit in them as though they are horizontal from each other. Luke should be face planting into the glass, Han should fall backwards off his seat and neither of the guns should face to direction they do 😂

This is similar to the Asteroid scene in part 2

When you realise that Luke and Han are in a different orientation to the Millennium Falcon, still blows my mind

This scene always messes with my mind because the way it’s shot indicates that the Quad Cannons are on a horizontal plane rather than a vertical one as shown from the outside of the ship.

As a former imperial tie fighter pilot I must file a complaint with the academy of motion pictures because there was Not a equal amount of face time for us, our union will be filling a formal complaint to the academy on so called "May the Fourth be with you" 5/4/23. Thank you for your support in the future.

Those must be the stupidest TIE Fighter pilots in the imperial navy. But still a legendary scene

PS: I remember seeing an 8mm print of this scene as a kid. I'm not sure if it was a bootleg or not, but I just stood and watched it play out. I was just a 10yo kid and it was the year after Star Wars had first come out. It was being played in booth in a kind of giant flea market named...Zern's, I think? It was in Pennsylvania. I'm not even sure if it's still around. Anyway, it was the first time I had seen a movie (albeit, just part of one) outside of a movie theater. And MY FAVORITE movie at that. It was mind-blowing at the time. I could have MY VERY OWN Star Wars??? WOW!!! 😉 😎

The layout of the Falcon is so bizarre. Where exactly are the gun turrets??

IMO SWIV is the best movie ever made...I'm probably wrong .compared to the woke crap Disney did to SW i'll never buy any of the stuff or go their parks ever again.
