I have to agree that it's really more accurate to call it filtering. Also - their label system is another way to filter/sort. I LOVE the labeling system! And being able to color code (though there aren't enough color options). Outlook can't give you that.

Is there a way once you see that side panel to delete all the emails they found?

Hi. Is there a way to sort all emails by most recent? In other words, can I have my most recent emails whether sent emails to me or emails I've replied to show up at the top by date order? I'm specifically talking about emails in threads. I could have an ongoing thread from a year prior and respond to it today but it seems to show up in my email from the original date which makes emails that I've sent or responded to hard to find when I'm in the thread option. I hope that makes sense.

Darn! Had to type this twice. My mouse has a hair trigger. Anyway, there is another thing Gmail users can do. Create a folder, say for all email from dear Aunt Tilley. Then, search 'Aunt Tilley.' Select all and move to Aunt Tilley's folder. The emails will stay put in the general mailbox but will also be listed in the folder.
