I’m thankful that I was able to see the real boom of internet in the 00’s. I never once thought that internet would come to a point to where it’s mandated to be affordable for low income one individuals . We gotta start working together and making life more accessible to everyone. This is how we truly advance as humans.

I live about 8 miles from the nearest town, and they won't run internet to my house. Meanwhile, my neighbors across the street have a wired connection. Yeah, they won't run it across the street, so I am stuck with the damn T-Mobile home internet box that hates to exist with a steady connection.

Fun fact. A small town in idaho, called Mountain Home, has made fiber optic a utility that is automatically hooked up to every house, and any company can use it under restrictions of resonable price and no throttling.
If you decide you dont want one company you can just switch to a different one.

Remember, go with a smaller isp if you can. I work for one and for the last 10 years every penny we can spare has been getting reinvested into converting from copper to pure fiber, and our prices are still cheaper than every one of our competitors.

Illinois needs this... So freaking tired of paying these outrageous prices. And since they're the only game in town, they know you have no choice... It's disgusting the attitude they have when you call and ask for a lower price. I've actually canceled it once before because the branch manager told me "if you don't like it, cancel." So I did. But... After a year without internet and constantly having to use a hotspot, I had to get it back. Since then, it has nearly doubled in price. I'm forced to pay the monopoly prices.

"high speed" there's your problem, high speed is the bare minimum, that's how they get you, "well we have a lower option so it's not our fault" when the lower option is so useless i might as well be burning the money

access to the internet is huge and the fact that more and more low income households could be getting it is awesome!

My grandmother has low income internet and it's so cool after gifting her my old Xbox 360 she uses it as a Netflix/Youtube Machine

My sister is in grade school and they almost exclusively do school work on their Chromebooks and so an Internet connection at home is very important for them to be able to get their homework down and a lot of students would benefit from a cost effective home Interest solution
