Where's all my fellow 0 subs guys at?

It's starting to feel more and more like we might need our own ISP. I love the idea of community sponsored service providers. I wish the lobbyists weren't so good at making sure municipal internet projects get killed. Too much vertical integration is going to kill the internet we know today.

Anyway loved the video and the idea for this channel. I'm looking forward to seeing what topics you guys will cover!

Great first video think I'll be spending a lot of time watching stuff on here as I love all the gameranx stuff. Couple ideas for more content:
- The weird and wonderful inventions of VR
- What we want to see from future super hero movies
- Could you develop and build your own mobile phone with its own applications
- Everyday items that need an RGB makeover

Not sure about everyone else but these are the sorts of things that bored-me would want to waste time on ;)

I am looking into creating my own ISP, but information is a bit vague and when you and old dog, like me, it's kinda hard to learn new tricks...
Anyone that can help?

I can't lie I don't know why but I can just listen to these guys and the guys from gameranks talk about anything for hours especially matt and falcon. Anyways hope I win that PC so I can make an even harder push on this YouTube grind.

I can think of a few reasons why you would want to do this:
1. The only people who can find you via the internet would be people who can connect to you, and to do that YOU have to connect the THEM, otherwise there is no way to find you considering that no one else has that information other than you and the people you connect to.
2. You can actually know when your internet will go down for maintenance, because you're the one maintaining it.
3. If you set up a piece of software that knows when you are being hacked and alerts you to this, there is almost NO WAY for that hack to succeed entirely, because you can turn off your internet whenever you want therefore cutting off that hackers connection to you and therefore preventing them from hacking you for whatever reason that hacker has.
4. Long distance LAN connections, because if you set up your own internet you can have Ethernet cables running with the fiber to other people, allowing information to be "hubbed" at your server and constantly passed between people, allowing for a long distance LAN Party.

Much of this is based of of hypothesis about the more intricate workings of the internet, and corrects or reasons as to why I am wrong is highly accepted, as long as you say it in a nice and civil way :)

Noisebridge is working on this project using commodity Wi-Fi equipment that’s been modified to work under amateur radio frequencies. The FCC grants experimenters spectrum space to build high power, long range radio systems. Through this provision, Noisebridge has begun building the HInternet (a combination of “Ham Radio" and “Internet”). As one enthusiast explains, “You can run any application you could run over the Internet, the difference is you don’t need any wires. Everything is done through radio links. In the event of a major disaster, you wouldn’t have to worry about downed lines or earthquake damage to underground equipment - the network would naturally reform itself, routing around failures.” The idea to create the HInternet was triggered by the realization that there was a lot open IP space allocated to amateur radio that was not in use. Aside from the benefits this system could provide in natural disaster, the HInternet is driven by the belief in freedom and open access to the Internet. The United States is debating a bill to create an Internet kill switch, also known as the PCNAA bill. For true redundancy, a non-critical network such as the HInternet is being built to avoid this single point of failure. The HInternet project is looking for volunteers to help them test and build the network. If you’re interested in learning more, they are holding a variety of information sessions this Fall. FIGHT THE FCC's ANTI-INTERNET NEUTRALITY AND ANTI-INTERNET FREEDOM Radio Interface Linux of course has full radio modem support (AX.25 its called) so after an earthquake or any catastrophe we can get an internet working again without having to run hundreds of miles of new fiber. Great! Offered by Rob. To quote from the web page by Bruce Perens: But, why use an operating system that only a nerd could love? ... it's the best platform for developing the kinds of software that Radio Amateurs need. I certainly agree, but I disagree with the statement: "it's the best platform for developing the kinds of software that Radio Amateurs need." The two main things going for it are that it's cheap (or free) and there is all sorts of software for it, especially for various aspects of the internet. As far as ham radio goes, everything the article says about Linux is also true for any other software platform for the internet. The key is that ham radio uses virtually the same packet communications protocol as does the internet (ham radio's AX2.5, commercial X2.5, and TCP/IP are virtually the same thing). In other words, I believe that a Windows NT WWW server can be configured to use the AX.25 protocol (and has probably already been so modified and those modifications are available free from ham web sites). The internet is already available over the air and has been for several years. You just have to find it with some web surfing. Offered by Ron. WB5KAN

If the fears of throttled internet are patently ‘absurd’ as you have claimed that it is Mr. Lionel then how come cities and municipalities must enact the Sherman Anti-Trust Act against all monopolies, cartels, oligopolices, cutthroat unfair competition being committed by all corporate ISPs such as Google, Youtube, AOL, Facebook, Twitter, Verizon, Comcast, and many others and to break up any organization or contract alleged to be in restraint of competitive trade and are against fair competition which Verizon is actively and ILLEGALLY TRYING TO FORCE AND MAKE THE FCC TO ILLEGALLY BAN MUNICIPAL BROADBAND WHICH IS A DECENTRALIZED FORM OF AFFORDABLE LOCALLY OWNED INTERNET INFRASTRUCTURE? It is forbidding you from making yourself independent from corporate owned and controlled utilities BY PREVENTING YOU FROM MAKING A PUBLICLY OWNED AND CONTROLLED UTILITIES DIRECTLY PAID FOR BY THE PEOPLE? HOW MANY PIECES OF SILVER DID THE BIG CORPORATE ISPs HAVE PAID YOU LIONEL TO MAKE YOU SPEAK FOR THEM BY SAYING "Fears of throttled internet are patently ‘absurd’ – Lionel?

If the fears of throttled internet are patently ‘absurd’ as you have claimed that it is Mr. Lionel then how come cities and municipalities, entire counties and even entire states are now going for PUBLICLY OWNED AND PAID FOR BY AMERICAN TAXPAYERS MUNICIPALITY BROADBAND INTERNET PUBLIC UTILITIES? 2.NO WEBSITE BLOCKING.
3.NO WEBSITE TAMPERING.

10.NO COMMENTARIES BLOCKING-DELETION-BRAKING.
11.NO DELETION OF HISTORY BROWSE AND NO DELETION OF HISTORY COMMENTARIES LISTINGS.
12.NO DIRECT AND INDIRECT AND SUBTLE HARASSMENT FROM THE ISPs.

William Calhoon 4 days ago I retired from the telecommunication industry. The cost of the network and equipment installed to deliver your internet service is paid back in less than one year. Fewer and fewer inside and outside technicians are needed to maintain the network. The cost is actually less than the old telephone service people of my age grew up with. So please don't buy into the corporate bullshit that they need less regs to expand service. Telecom companies are awash in cash and have no interest in expanding into more rural areas. Jeff's points are right on. Disrupting the web is going to bring hellfire down on the republicans.

I live in the US Territory of American Samoa where there are only 2 ISPs called BlueSky and ASTCA. Both charge about $150 US for barley 1 MB/s of service.
