You've always been able to do that so long as your device is unlocked. You won't get HSPA+ (3G/4G) on their network unless you're in one of the areas that has the network refarmed to the 1900 band. You also won't get LTE on a 4s.

In New York especially around Time Square there's boosters for all the major carriers scattered around. In Jersey on T-Mobile my signal was shit but as soon as I went to Time Square my signal was stronger than it had ever been when I was with them.

nope, from what i heard tmobile will runs off the aws (band 4) spectrum and works with the iphone model A1428. Verizon's iphone has a cdma network and uses a different band for lte (I think its 13). Tmobile's iphone is an updated A1428 so i heard AT&T iPhones won't work either. Kinda of curious as i live in Canada and our lte is on (band 4).

As of a couple weeks ago T-Mobile has stopped contracts completely, so the iphone 5 when it comes out is going to be about $550 not including tax or the monthly plan

That's weird, I have never really had any problems with my iphone besides the back glass cracking, but I hope what your iphone went through never happens to my iphone. So now that you have had so many problems with iphones, are you still going to keep iphones or switch over to android?

There's going to be an update sent out to people who have unlocked iphone's for T-mobile tomorrow April 5th. You should be able to get LTE after the update...i'm excited for that!
