It could be confusing, but remember "Microsoft Defender Antivirus" and "Microsoft Defender" (the one in the video) are two different products!

I thought that it'll replace the built-in Windows Security app because they both have the same icon, but I just learned it's independent.

What would be interesting is to control via a website like Sophos Home has and Emsisoft anti-malware, that is, enter a website and take full control of PCs with Windows Defender installed. Like me from Home being able to manage my 10 machines at work all just by logging into a Microsoft website. I don't see this practicality in Windows Defender while other antiviruses are all migrating to remote management Microsoft for Home users leaves it to be desired.

Question, why should I donwload the app if I already have the windows defender enabled? Also use the security features as well.

I have Kaspersky Total Security installed in my pc. Should it hamper to install Microsoft Defender Preview application in my pc?

Clearly it is a design choice, but what's up with the oddly angled devices as icons? Does not matter at all ... I just see it as a strange and funny design choice ^^

But why did Microsoft released this app? We don´t need 2 types of apps for the same thing! Microsoft is releasing always 2 apps for the same thing, that´s stupid. You all know waht I mean, see controll panel and settings app, old and new media player, old and new paint app, and now this defender app!

They should keep the Windows 11 design for the Defender app... now in this beta it looks so ugly

this not compatible with Macos or iPhone thats an outright lie. I have a Mac and Tried it there is nothing compatible for the Mac from Microsoft Defender.
