I remember when I first watched this part, I immediately got this negative vibe that Pink Diamond must have realized on her own that she felt "too old" to hang out with someone like Spinel as time went on. It was just really sad to see her smiling and laughing with Spinel when they're shown hanging out and then all of a sudden she looked bored. Pink Diamond pretty much gave off that vibe when she began interacting with the Diamonds rather than appreciating the true and sincere friendship she was already blessed with.😢 I think she initially felt it would have been "embarrassing" to keep Spinel by her side after starting a colony because she was worried how judgemental the Diamonds would have reacted.

I would've taken Spinel, worn her like a belt and used her as a companion, a weapon, bodyguard, assassin. Teach her the difference and balance between being serious and having fun. She would be my absolute most prized project, way more important than the other gems that's for sure. Her bubbliness reminds me of my dog. No way would I let her go, and to think she could be used to protect and serve and play with all those of future generations after me.
