This is actually a depressing story for an antagonist, abandonment. This is why I don't consider Spinel a villain but rather an antagonist. She's not truly evil, but her actions are toxic due to no one in her life to give her meaning. And I'd totally be like that if the very person that gave me purpose left me all alone.

I don't even watch this show but spinel alone has interested me into starting

It makes me so sad to think about how all of Spinel’s love and innocence was just slowly drained away. Like imagine being stuck in the same position in crumbing/dying garden on a rock in the middle of nowhere with no one to talk to for 6000 years. I want to sympathize with rose/pink but honestly there’s no way I can ever see her as a good person ever again. As someone who’s dealt with lots of toxic family and friends this hurt in such a personal level

The hardest part of this song for me was "Is this how it works, am I doing it right?" as it made Spinel think that it was her fault....a very relatable feeling....

Idk why but seeing her pry her shoes from the vines growing around her always gets me emotional. It really hits home just how long she's stayed there, waiting for someone who's never coming back...

That's so depressing... The fact she literally waited for her to come back for 6000 years and I don't blame her for being so upset and so enraged. Once I saw her cry that's when I started to really feel bad.

I keep seeing these people trying to justify Pink abandoning Spinel and it’s like no, there is no excuse for what she did at all. Don’t give me those stupid excuses like “oh she was just trying to protect her from the war” or “she couldn’t come back and get her because that would blow their cover”. No! She abandoned her before the war started, it was right after she got her colony and before she cared about the Earth. And if she was trying to protect then why didn’t she just tell her that she was leaving and wasn’t coming back? Or why didn’t she just tell her to stop being annoying or that she didn’t want to be friends if she didn’t want her around anymore? It’s kind of mean but not nearly as evil as tricking her into standing still for what could have been eternity if it wasn’t for Steven! And if she did start to regret leaving her, why didn’t she go back for her? Spinel was her best friend, she would have followed her anywhere and is an incredible fighter. She would have been a great crystal gem. Don’t try to tell me “Oh, she can’t go back for her because all the warp pads were broken” she has healing tears that we know could have fixed them. No matter what kind of reasoning you try to give for her, she could have done something much better then abandoning someone who loved her with all her heart and who just wanted to see her happy! I don’t care what anyone says, Pink Diamond was just horrible to her and if she just forgot about her then that’s even worse! It means she didn’t care about her enough to remember what an awful thing she did! Spinel did not deserve what Pink did to her.

This reminds me so much abandoned pets, especially dogs. People impulse buy them, then they get bored of them or can’t handle their energy and needs. So they just discard them off at a park or the middle of nowhere. And since the pets don’t know any better, they wait for their owners to come back for them.
