I love how he brings out the middle voice. Really clever

We need this type of creativity for today's classical musicians.

The way he plays the C# minor waltz is amazing too

Voicing really makes a difference, and the way he plays the actual melody is amazing. He makes it seem like a part a piccolo would play, hidden behind the whole orchestra but still quite noticeable, like birds' singing.

katsaris always plays chopin with these incredible voicings you just simply don't hear anywhere else. 100% my favorite chopin interpreter.

Katsaris is so underrated. He is a virtuoso of the highest level, yet all you hear about is Horowitz, Wang, Lang, and Rubinstein, among many others. Sure, those pianists are all great, but they also receive the acclaim they deserve. Katsaris' interpretation of Chopin's 3rd Sonata is phenomenal.

I love the way he brings out the melodic accents‼️🤨🙏🏾 hmmm … I think this is something that would have made me want to play this one. I’ve heard it done basically the standard way but this is wonderful. And I like the speed in which he is playing it as well. Great combo‼️

I was at the concert. Hamamatsu, Japan, the summer in 2014. It was played as an encore if my memory is correct.

This is amazing. Really illustrates how important it is to focus on the left hand also and not only see it as something that is happening in the background to make it sound fuller

Basically it sounds like a children-level practise piece, even though a kid like me would explode trying to play the first page

Chopin doesn't get enough credit for his counterpoint

I love doing that when I'm learning a new song. Especially with Prokofiev. wherever you decide to put your accent you find a beautiful progression that's out of this world. And you know with Prokofiev it's gonna be another parallel dissonant one that, just as it resolves, it would have already started morphing into another one😂

The second I heard those notes I knew it was Katsaris.

I'm Polish, played Chopin's pieces tons of times (I was a symphonic musician once), and I know Chopin's art inside out, even though I'm a double-bassist. I find this a very interesting proposition of interpretation. What helps this interpretation tremendously are: impeccable technique, near-cold execution of text, BUT also maintaining truly high emotional charge at the stage or nearly firing the cannon. This wouldn't work if the text wasn't clear at all times. It wouldn't work if that was only a cold execution without some story with an emotional load, a progression of emotions.

Beautiful, and I wish this were the whole recording, and other information.

Katsaris is a living legend. No living pianist can do what he does. Amazing.
