Kyan had self-taught himself to play this piece via YouTube and watching tutorials, he'd only been playing for 7 months, starting when we happened to stay in an AirBnB that had an upright piano.

He wanted to go into every music store we saw, and he was lucky enough to get to play 'the most expensive grand piano in the store' on a recent trip to visit family. He had never played on a grand piano before and he was incredibly happy to feel the difference in feel and sound as he played one of his favourite pieces. You can hear him commenting on the 'amazing quality' at the end.

Kyan Pennell, 12, died tragically on the 31st January 2022, in a freak accident at our home. He had been self-learning piano off YouTube for 7 months, we didn't realise how good he'd become. He had committed 35 classical pieces to memory, and was teaching himself to read, write and compose music. He was neurodiverse and a self-diagnosed synesthete.

We are asking all musicians, humbly, to play and complete Kyans unfinished piece, and submit it here. We will never know what he saw in his minds eye, so all versions are giving us insight into what could have been.

He did tell us that many people have to die to become famous, well, my beautiful boy, here we are...
