Hayo Miyazaki and Hideaki Anno Dual Perspective

Left footage is from "The Kingdom Of Dreams And Madness" by Mami Sunada.
Right footage is from "10 Years with Hayao Miyazaki - Ep. 4 No Cheap Excuses" by Kaku Arakawa (NHK).
I don't claim any rights for this footage and I hope "Fair Use" is applicable here. I just wanted to show this unique moment in time from totally different points of view! Considering how reluctant Studio Ghibli is to let camera operators in, having 2 of them in 1 room is kind of bizarre!

I think Miyazaki loves Anno more than his actual son.

That 'Office' zoom in at the end to catch the reaction of near disbelief is a gem.

Interesting to know that hideaki Anno was suffering from pretty bad depression during this, he hadn’t gone to his own studio to work in over a year

His voice was suitable for Jiro, his voice is literally ear candy 🥹 so soothing and calming yet so caring

At first it's surprising for me to check on voice actors in wind rises only to find anno is voicing the main character. I mean, he's a director not a voicr actor

Hideaki Anno's performance as Jiro was unironically one of the best parts from The Wind Rises/Kaze Tachinu for me. He just felt so beleivable and well... human to me. A performance rare to find in most Anime I think, especially nowadays.
Of course, I did have to do a double take when I looked up the Cast for the film after first seeing it to see it was indeed the Evangelion Director himself in the role of the charecter. He's obviously not known for his Voice Acting but I think he fit this Particular Role like a Glove here...

When I first watched the movie, I was really impressed with the voice of Jiro, he sounds emotionless and yet his voice still gives the feels in the movie. It was my first time hearing a certain voice like his. It was a good choice that they went with Anno as Jiro's voice actor. I instantly fell in love with Jiro😅😅😅

This show is my most favorite ghibli animation and it is the first animation that I searched for voice actor. Anno’s voice is really soothing and realistic.

It’s amazing how one subtitles are accurate and the other is localized to being missing the point.

Now we know why Anno was so depressed when he made Evangelion.

Miyazaki was his mentor.

Stereo vision, but a few seconds lag. Genuinely interesting format dramatises a two-person conversation. And all those reaction shots.

It was a terrible choice and made the movie boring. You can tell that Suzuki already knows it’s gonna be a disaster.
