Keir Starmer, Rishi Sunak and hundreds of other top politicians have been asked what seems like a straightforward question: What is a woman?

But they have all struggled to varying degrees to provide a definition that groups across the political spectrum can fully agree on. Does a woman have a cervix? Can a woman have a penis? Can a woman not have a womb?
