Politicians put a lot of work into the way they get votes, and it’s not just by writing a great speech.

Deep Voice Gives Politicians Electoral Boost
“What makes a successful politician? Experience? Skill? Charisma? Perhaps you were searching for these traits while watching the recent Republican presidential debate. But what you might not have thought about was how your perception of the candidates could be influenced by their voices.”

Tears and fears: How do emotions change our political attitudes?
“Politicians know that turning on the tears can be a vote winner, but how does the political manipulation of our emotions actually work? Researchers explore how emotions such as anxiety, even if their cause has nothing to do with politics, can result in a hardening of our views.”

Candidate Voice Pitch Influences Election Outcomes
“To wit, while voters consciously consider their own political preferences and those of the candidates when casting their ballots, the results presented here demonstrate that the electorate also makes thin impressionistic judgments based on far more subtle factors of which they may not be aware.”

Physiological Arousal and Political Beliefs
"In support of our hypotheses, the results of the present study indicate that heightened physiological
reactivity, measured by SCL, mediated the relationship between anxiety and anti-immigration
attitudes. This provides critical evidence that emotions incidental to the decision process can have
important effects on our political beliefs."

That is one of the flaws of democracy, it makes politics in some sort of "show", rather what is more beneficial.

Bernie Sanders runs a campaign based mostly on hope and perhaps a small hint of revenge towards the 1%.

The take away is that we should only read transcripts of speeches, or just go by their actions in previous positions.

And with this I believe that I can begin to make a case that emotion is a net detriment to human life.

question for DNews, can some or all of the human body be kept functioning in case of massive blood loss or blood poisoning by replacing the blood with an alternate fluid that full fills the same job as blood?

This is the main reason why a Representative Democracy is flawed. I'd say you should vote for what values/moral system decisions should be based on instead of a specific person but this would require a complete remake of the governing system today. The main reason why I think voting for a specific moral system instead of a representative is because how the debates would change from a "he said/she said" landscape to deeper conversations about what's right and wrong and hopefully a more scientific method on making decisions assuming you set up the governing system around a scientific evaluation of decisions and not one based on how people feel. Would require HUGE reforms but I think it's doable :)
