This is very misleading because you're not mentioning the cities you went to.

Yes when i went to italy there were a lot of uncomfortable experiences. While most of the locals were very kind, there were some who you could tell didnt want you to be there, which is understandable, but what was really bad was the male scammers. Mostly in rome, they would get up in your face and try and sell you stuff. They would try and put scarves or bracelets on you and charge you for it. It was very uncomfortable

As an Italian, I'm truly sorry you had to feel that way. No one should feel unsafe, as a tourist and in everyday life.

Yeah, I had the same experience in Italy. Mainly Rome. I was doing a 6-month internship, so I had to move through the city at late evening alone. There were these Nigerian men who used to pester and follow me. Were pretty relentless. Don't know what the scam was. I used to have to go into restaurants and wait for them to leave. Eventually i learnt where they lurked, always in groups and had no issues moving through the streets. But pretty scary shit

Madrid felt so incredibly safe to me tbh.
Sure Spanish helps.
But I loved it there.

I absolutely loved Austria, I even hiked in the mountains alone, and saw just a handful of people (men mostly) and never ever felt unsafe, they were so nice.

I'm italian 26yo man living in NL, I come from Florence. I think the amount of bad people in every country are pretty similar, the police is similar too, I think the biggest difference is how cities are designed. Historical italian streets can be more tricky, but for a girl is important to avoid bad neighboor and dangerous streets in every country. I feel bad to see Italy rated half of the Netherlands, I don't agree with that, but I can understand that

I've traveled all over Sweden as a solo female traveler. Its so easy and safe, it feels like heaven. I've never had one issue in Sweden, and people there are extremely helpful.

I moved from Hannover (Germany) to Groningen (Netherlands) and I can't describe the difference in feeling safe I have experienced. I walk around at night with headphones in now. In Hannover I called someone every time I walked alone at night. 😂

As an Italian I agree about the 5/10 😅
Sometimes you just feel unsafe alone
