Shnootz - Reaction Video (Cyndi Lauper - Change of Heart)

What's happening, folks! I'm back with another Cyndi Lauper reaction, and this time we begin going through her sophomore solo album True Colors (1986) with the song "Change of Heart." As you'll see, I was fascinated by this song, which I think is written very cleverly. That said, it seemingly had two false endings, then a false re-start and quick fadeout! Really funny ending sequence to this one. In any case, I hope you enjoy the song and video! Cheers!

One of the best 80's pop songs. Doesn't get enough credit. Perfectly crafted. Evey sound, every lyric, every note (& harmonies w/ the Bangles!) so good. "If it's truth that you're looking to find. It is nowhere outside of your mind. I bide my time... waiting for your change of heart."

Throbbing rhythm, killer Cyndi vocals (with Bangles back-up), and Nile Rodgers on guitar - enough said. Love it.

I think this is one of those songs that while it was a hit single at the time (at least in the US where it got to #3), it would never get played after that. You weren’t familiar with it going in, and neither was I when I first started listening to Cyndi’s music. Great song though.

A cover song, I remember finding this one a STRONG opening track. Still love it.

I was already a fan and a senior in high school, I remember racing home with my copy TC the day it came out and being generally blown away by most of it.

Great vocal performance from Cyndi with backing vocals by The Bangles, and that interesting driving rhythm. The video was filmed over here in London but the song sadly wasn't a hit here.

Interesting story as to why there was no 1985 album. Apparently Dave Wolff decided that they would pull back from the public eye after Wrestlemania I and then re-launch Cyndi again in 1986. The momentum was lost though and she never got as big again as she was in 1984.

And the years lied ahead still untried"

Some interesting Duran Duran connections here: The album was recorded at The Power Station in NYC, Jason Corsaro did some additional mixing, Neil Rodgers plays the guitar on this track and in the music video there's Sterling Campbell on the drums. He was in Cyndi's touring band and did not play on the album though.

Matt, idk how far the rabbithole of the Cyndi Lauper/WWF Rock 'N Wrestling connection you care to go, but here. She's in the black wig as her alter ego "Mona Flambe". Meat Loaf appears on the drums in the video but didn't play them on the Wrestling Album.

If you need an MP3 of Right Track Wrong Train, non-album B-side to Girls Just Want to Have Fun, and What a Thrill, b side to Good Enough and originally an abandoned Blue Angel song, let me know.
