I was thinking why would anyone do this ever but then I remembered American health care is completely broken and this would cost literally thousands to be done in a hospital thank god for the NHS

"We wanna get new X-Rays and make sure you do not have to go back home in a cast."
I would also like to go home with my wallet.

As a Canadian, it’s fucking dystopian to hear about Americans paying upwards of $700 dollar USD just for a cast removal. Holy shit that’s theft

When she's trying to save $700 for the cast removal. Hey she did good. Just make sure you don't remove it before hand, or go get the x-ray then run away before they remove your cast and remove it at home.

You can buy an osolating tool from harbor freight for cheap with a friction blade. This is virtually identical to what the hospital uses to cut the cast. Just cut into the softest skin the blade just shakes a few millimeters. Since the skin can stretch more than the cutting stroke, the skin is never cut this is how bone saws work

Listen to the doc, did this with my foot a decade ago, and the nerves are just now returning to normal

I love the comments being pro american healthcare.

The whole issue is that the healthcare system both the hospitals and the insurance companies are "for profit"

That artificially inflates the cost of healthcare for everyone who needs it.

We have "free healthcare" in Denmark which is really just paid for by everyone through their taxes. We however do not need health insurance to get treatment and there is no copay on top of there being no insurance cost.

Also most of our hospitals are non profit which is what makes this able to work. Private hospitals still exist and they are for profit.

We do however have a accident insurance that can help is in case an accident makes us unable to work permanently but it has nothing to do with the healthcare.

People are starting not to care doc when you want us to sign over a arm or leg to just have a x-ray . You can keep that idea

From experience, don't remove your own casts. I broke my fibula and cut my cast off the same day... Still don't walk right and it's been 10 years🤣

Imagine paying 1.5k for a cast to be removed. I fractured my kneecap so bad they had to fly a specialist from lapland to helsinki to perform the operation. I paid like 100 euros for the entire thing. (I bought the nurses some pastries and candy for that money because they were awesome, I paid zero for the operation or stay.)

But also you could get medical person who doesn’t want to take their time cut off the cast and ends up burning you with the saw
