The Porsche 992 Carrera S is Great at Everything - (Track) One Take

Filmed at Thunderhill West as part of the Road & Track Performance Car of the Year test! Read more here:

The 2020 Porsche 992 Carrera S is the rear-wheel drive version of the car Matt did 1,500 miles in just a week before. Aside from the optional ceramic brakes and the 100 lb weight savings and two less driven wheels, the cars are roughly identical, sport-optioned models. The Carrera S is, frankly, excellent at everything. It's impeccably well made, comfortable, very fast, very sharp, and its speed is very approachable without feeling too artificial. Though lacking some of the 'fizz' you get with the big-bore four-liter GT cars, it's hard to find anything to complain about when the 992 is doing its thing on track.

Porsche provided the vehicle for this test. Road & Track provided the opportunity.

THIS is how you make a track video. Lots of car noise, great shot composition, lots of internal/external clips... and you talk but you're delivering information, not blabbering, and we can enjoy the sound. 11/10 :)

I’ve never driven a 911 but it’s always really fun to watch how the rear end seems to just rotate you just enough to take corners at speeds that some other cars might understeer

No brand can really compete with Porsche, they just deliver a perfect package. Daily drivable, superior quality and reliability and perfect performance.

This short <10min video really showed the driver's incredible ability on the track. The 992 being a rear(mid)-engined car it's not the easiest thing to dance like that within/beyond the limit of the car. Porsche did a fabulous job making their machines just so confidence-inspiring and predictable even when breaking loose of the traction limit. Such amazing machines that one should really appreciate if having the opportunity to own one.

Ultimately, it's also the prettiest 911 in a while. Really like the sexy rear end and yet a classic-looking 911 feel with a proper modern touch.

Is there ever a bad review from Matt Farah? I think not. I have said this before and once again it is the standard brilliant review again. Being able to convey to the viewer what the driver is feeling is an art I am convinced and Matt is an artist.

I’ve had my 992 C4S since Oct 15 and have put 5, 500 (s)miles on it. Winter tires and it handles Kansas’ snow and ice, and heavy rains, like it’s nothing. Quick as stink, comfortable, plenty of interior room, and sticks to the road like paint. Is it expensive? Yep. Is it worth it? Darned tootin’!

I just ripped in one of these at Porsche Experience LA, what a phenomenal car. Great at everything is exactly how I would describe it. That's what makes the car a unique experience

I like the simplicity of this car, I'm sure it's not simple at all under the skin but it's cool how Porsche stay focused on making a true sports car with no distractions

Damn Matt, you're moving up in the world. Beckett Simonon is a seriously legit footwear maker. Way better than the nutsack powder you used to do advertising for, lol.

Love this car. Great video. The new 911 is great at everything except letting me afford to buy it!

I just had the opportunity to track one for a good 30 laps at barber and the thing is a beast. Stylistically I was not a fan but it immediately won me over. I agree with everything Matt said.

I see you got a paint-to-sample signal yellow homer helmet too

Lets not forget this is the first step into the new 992 platform. Porsche have even said that the new 911 in standard and S formats is more GT focused than before.
If you want track focused you'll have to wait for the GT3/2 or GTS.
Personally I love the idea of a track car but actually use my car more for long roadtrips and UK B/A road driving which is why I ordered a 2S (currently counting the days to delivery).

That 3.0 twin turbo is amazing in regards to powerband. My dream car, with the right specs too.

$140k is not bad fir a car that will do absolutely anything and everything you want it to do, plus you're an excellent driver! Well done Sir! Totally enjoyed my time in the car with you.

I own a Chrysler 300 Hemi with 400/450. It runs real strong for 4200lbs. but the suspension is like a rock. I know a shop in Houston that could put a complete suspension on it but no telling how much that would cost. Well over $10k I would think.
