5.1 magnitude earthquake hits South Bay

A magnitude 5.1 earthquake quickly followed by a 3.1 aftershock struck the South Bay late Tuesday morning, rattling windows, shelves and nerves across the Bay Area.

Well, a single M5 quake is nothing to start worrying about. To be accurate, today’s quake struck the Calaveras fault just 3-4 miles from where the Hayward branches off of it, so this location is actually very unfavorable. Thankfully, there have been no other M5+ quakes around there, so again, no reason to worry yet.

A 5.1 isn't nothing but a 8.1 is, Los Angeles and San Francisco is going to get a very big earthquake like an 8.1.

For people that live here in the San Fransisco area or the Los Angeles area, a 5.0M earthquake usually is enough of a shake to maybe spill some of your alcoholic beverage lol... which results in having drinks outside lol
