I served in Reagan's Navy from 1981-1985 with no particular distinction. Proud to have done so. Trained Surface line officer. Launched planes from the bridge of USS Independence when Hezbollah bombed the Marine Barracks in Beirut. Leave the rest for history and stop lambasting people who have been honorably discharged. There are millions more serving and who have been discharged in the US's endless war era since WWII. This political tactic is shameful to all voters and veterans.

They're parading around a timetable that they think exonerates Walz when the entire argument was always that word had already come down from the top "to be ready for deployment" long before the actual orders did.

As long as team Vance makes sure to be VERY CAREFUL to make that distinction, Walz cannot counter this point as far as I can tell.

They know well ahead of time about a deployment! 😡 It is better to serve 4 years in active duty than to be a member of the guard that spends more time at home than abroad. In his case, he spent his years stateside, working civilian and his weekends. NOT THE SAME!!!

There IS evidence. They are trying to be clever. The Order to Deploy comes AFTER the Warning Order. So yes, your unit is notified 1st, then, after other things take place, your Deployment Orders are issued. So, yeah, he’s a coward and a liar.

As a prior Guard member- More often than not, deployment orders arrive the week the member actually deploys. Being placed on and obtaining an actual line number for deployment and having knowledge of an upcoming deployment can be as much as two years in advance.

I was with my husband 6 out of the 7 years he served in the national guard. We knew like a year in advance if a deployment was coming down the pipeline so we could make arrangements for our family. It’s called “hurry up and wait”

As a vet (and I say that not to say that my opinion matters more because I'm a vet but that I am familiar with the details of the subject for that reason), it is my opinion that some of the criticism is somewhat overblown particularly around the rank and wearing of certain emblems. The criticism of his MANY claims, veiled and not, that he was a combat veteran truly cross the line. The nail in the coffin on all of these, for me, is that he never corrected them despite being confronted multiple times. That tells me that he purposefully used the lies as a political tool.

I was in Germany when OEF/OIF kicked off. What he said about the guard coming to take over base security is an accurate description of what happened. They took over security in European US military communities so we could deploy forward knowing our families were secured. Don't think what he said in the interview clip was misleading at all if you understand what he said. The other stuff may be a different situation tho

John Kerry was a lieutenant for 2 weeks in Vietnam, when he fell down in his Swift Boat and apparently hurt himself (falling down) so bad that he was sent home and discharged.
