Thank you! The best tutorial I have come across to install Arch. I installed it without a hitch! Definitely subscribing!

Thank you for the video. I too did a fresh install using the latest image. In the end I found it to be very efficent and less troublesome than before.

Nice video, I've Arch installed already and hopefully I don't need to reinstall for a while. I would not be looking forward to a new install with wireless without the AIF when I only have one laptop and no access to another machine. I printed 20 sheets of instructions and got it installed a year ago and so far going well!

I have 5 videos in a series, Part 1 was base install (which changed recently which is why i made this new one) part 2 i do the first upgrade and set up pacman-key for PGP which with this new image is irrelevant and a lot of what i address in part 2 may be irrelevant now, but i create a user, do the upgrades, get fastest mirrors for pacman...then part 3 i start installing sound and Xorg for a GUI.. Then I install Openbox for my Desktop and Slim for Display Manager, Part 4 I configure them.

for those that don't know there is a simply script you can use to do all of the install for you on the offical site, you can find it by googling arch script and it should be the first result, it's really simple, just start up, setup internet connection, install git and use it to get the script then run it, the instructions are on the site. x

When you boot with the CD or USB you choose what architecture you want to install when you choose between "current OS" or "i386"or "x86_64"

I've never tried that myself, but i might run it in a virtual machine just to see how smooth it goes, or doesn't goes. I'll get back to you on that.

yeah I should make an updated one soon.

For an easier setup you may want to just install gnome or kde or xfce as your desktop enviornment and just use gdm or kdm as the display manager. Part 5 i go into installiing proprietary graphics drivers, which can get kinda hairy.

Awesome tutorials, finished the part5 a few hours ago and my arch is running quite well (all thanks to your tutorials) :D
PS: Is there anyway for you to show us in video or indicate a tutorial on how to reproduce your work environment? i simply loved it and wanted to create one similar to yours :)

no prob, i actually would have done it right after the new image came out, except i wasn't aware of the change until a couple days ago.

yeah using unetbootin with arch has created issues for me, what i do now is the dd command: "sudo dd if=/path/to/arch/iso/file of=/dev/sdX" where X is equal to the drive letter of the usb, an example of the exact command I used was "sudo dd of=/dev/sdg" BE CAREFUL with this as if you are not pointing at the actual usb or if you accidently point at your systems hard drive you can wipe a hard drive real easy

I installed Arch Linux via a bootable USB drive created using LinuxPendrive - it definitely does work. The config for the bootloader has to be adjusted so it appends to /arch/ and not ../../ - apart from that you have to manually mount the USB drive to (it'll show an error that it couldn't find the particular device when you boot). After that it works just fine. :P

For some reason it's not letting me reply directly, but Thanks DarN71 and DonKilluminati323, and in the original 4 videos i was using Openbox, Video 5 I was using i3 window manager, and in this video I'm using Awesome window manager.
