Absolutely fantastic video. From this one, I've subscribed. Now, I'm looking forward to the rest of this playlist series and to see what else you've done.

One of the best arch guides I've seen. Thanks a lot - Arch seems a bit easier than gentoo?

Yes and no.

Pacman is used to install stuff onto your current system. Pacstrap is used to install packages to another system (for example, we're using it *from* the "live" Arch disc *to* install packages in our mounted partitions).

MSCE? Congrats. I've yet to take that exam . . . not sure if I want to.

Arch is certainly a bear, and it certainly has a steep learning curve (Im certainly still learning). Careful if you decide to install Awesome as your Window Manager later on - I have not yet figured out how to migrate 3.4 settings (the version I did these vids on) to 3.5 (current).
If you like Mint's GUI, definitely check out the Cinnamon Desktop Environment. A little on the resource-intensive side, but very nice.

What modifications should I do for a non-VBox environment? In other words as my main OS? Awesome videos. You should Be Praised.

That depends on whether or not you plan on Suspending/Hibernating the machine and especially if you have low RAM.

I tried Gnome 3 for a half hour and decided I hated it.
Gnome 2 is still one of my favorites, though. At least XFCE4 is Gnome-ish without the compiz stuff.

just one question, why not just use "ping -c google.com"?
since it will redirect you to one of the servers they have up, or have I missed something here?
other than this, it is a really, I mean it, really good guide :3
now I might actualy be able to actually install the X-server and make it work... (never works completely properly for me).

Don't I need to create a SWAP partition as well?

also;
is pacman and pacstrap generally the same thing?

Sometimes I get the "network inaccessible" error.
It's a habit of mine to just use an IP address.

When I did /mnt/etc/fstab, I didn't have the top line you have:
tmpfs /tmp tmpfs nodev.nosuid 0 0

But I had everything else in the file. Is that bad? Did I miss something?
- Thanks

For the life of me i cannot get my wireless up. I have a Broadcom BCM4312 and forums say that it should be compatible.
