How to Squat With Long Femurs
Are you a taller lifter with long legs? If yes, you might have a harder time squatting to depth.
Here are 2 ways you can modify your squat to squat deeper
1. Squat Wider: By widening your squat stance, you give yourself more space to hit depth. You're essentially making your legs a bit shorter by squatting wider.
2. Use Squat Shoes With a Heel: If you have long femurs, your knees will have to travel further. This requires more ankle dorsiflexion than a shorter person does. Squat shoes will reduce the ankle mobility requirements. Also, the more knee travel you have, the more upright you can squat. The more upright you squat, the deeper you will be able to squat.
